As Chairman Emeritus of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties, Dan brings to Sweetwater Capital over 37 years of success and achievement in the real estate industry. While CEO, his firm was the dominant Real Estate brokerage firm in the metro Atlanta market and was consistently recognized as the highest-producing and the top rated company in the residential home and builder market in Georgia.
From his early days as a busboy and janitor to the captain of a 68 foot shrimp boat on the Georgia coast, Dan learned quickly that “If you don’t catch fish or shrimp, you don’t eat”. Dan was a straight A student at the University of Georgia until he passed his CPA exam on first attempt and joined and had secured a position at KPMG in Atlanta. He specialized in Banking and Real Estate and retail. He joined Merrill Lynch Realty in 1986 which later became Prudential Georgia Real Estate. He invested his life savings in 1991 and subsequently became majority owner. The company was subsequently bought by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hawthaway in 2013 and the firm became Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties.
At Berkshire Hathaway, Dan led a team with over 29 offices and over 1600 agents and brokers throughout Georgia and produced sales volume of $5.2 billion in his final year. The enterprise also had a mortgage, title, property management,and new homes division. In 2022, Dan retired with a proper succession plan and will join Sweetwater as a full and active Partner. Dan is married to his wife Rhonda, has 4 children and 2 grandchildren and resides in north Sautee, GA.
